As February the 14th approached, I used to feel a sense of dread… the Instagram stories full of pandora crown rings and naff red roses. I took the opinion that Valentine’s Day was purely constructed to drain even more money out of us, as surely if you love someone you shouldn’t just express this one day a year? I also think the fact I never had a boyfriend around valentine’s day fuelled some jealousy and if I did have one my insta story would probably be all mushy too. 

Over the years the view on Valentine’s has certainly changed with a big shift to Galantine’s and self-love. I certainly embraced Galantine’s as one year 13 other single girlfriends and I went out for a meal surrounded by tables of two and it was soooooo refreshing and I felt some serious girl power within. I’ve also partaken in buying myself Valentine’s presents over the years because I figured I’m 100% worth it. With Valentine’s Day fast approaching it looks like this year I’m actually going to have a classic Valentine’s day (thanks Will!) which I’m honestly so excited about. So, when Rebecca asked me to write a Valentine’s Day blog about what Valentine’s meant to me, I felt really conflicted. It’s meant so many different things to me over the years, I felt I needed to share all of them with you. So, no matter how you’re feeling about Valentine’s Day (whether you’re celebrating Valy/Galy or self love day!) I thought I would share my top ten Valentine’s Day countdown.
