JEWELLERY BREAKAGES

From time to time accidents happen and with wear and tear our jewellery can suffer breakages. Here is what to do if your jewellery breaks.

All of our brands have a strict 6 month warranty period for breakages and damage to jewellery. If your jewellery breaks within that time please contact us by phone to arrange a postal repair or call into store with your broken jewellery.

If your jewellery falls outside of this time frame please read below to find out your next steps.

1.

Get in touch! We are a friendly team and always endeavour to help, no matter how long you’ve had a piece of jewellery. Jewellery is for life.

2.

It is always best to call in-store so that we can see the jewellery in person, but if that's not possible contact us on 01636 529649 to arrange a postal repair. Unfortunately, we cannot assist with repairs via email.

3.

Once we have taken a look at your jewellery we can let you know what
your repair options are and provide you with a quote for the repair service.

The most common breakage scenarios are:

Snapped necklaces and bracelets unknowingly caught or broken due to wear and tear. This is something we are able to identify by the chain being stretched when snapped and as such the chain measures longer than the original size or has irregular shaped links. In this case we can send the chain to our bench jeweller for a repair.

Broken clasps. If this has occurred our bench jeweller will be able to replace the clasp.

Products, perfume, getting the jewellery wet and failing to store the jewellery properly can cause the jewellery to erode and tarnish. We are able to offer a re-plaiting service in this instance.

Chain breakages:

We are aware chain breakages do happen and they can happen for a variety of reasons, the most common being an accidental tug, wear and tear over years and use of cosmetics. Very rarely chain breaks are a fault of the chain itself.

We recognise that chains can be unknowingly caught. Chains never “fall off” without coming under some kind of strain. They may fall without you realising you in fact caught and tugged the chain.

As a jeweller we are able to see when a chain has been snapped. A chain that has been snapped will measure longer than the chain did when it left us. This is because a chain is stretched when it comes under pressure, thus resulting in a snap.

Snapped chains are not considered a fault and will be reviewed by each brand according to their warranty period. When this falls outside of the warranty period a chargeable repair from our bench jeweller will be required to get your chain to a wearable condition.

Please be respectful of our team:

Please be respectful of our team and our policy which is in line with jewellers nationwide. We understand that it is frustrating when a beloved piece of jewellery breaks. However, we are not responsible for jewellery breakages and as a small business are not able to support free of charge repair or replacement services outside of our suppliers warranty period. We thank you for your understanding on this matter.

We know what we are talking about and what we are looking at when examining a broken piece. Equally we are more than happy to help you get your broken item repaired with our bench jeweller. Rest assured your jewellery is in safe hands.
