This Christmas it’s more important than ever to make considered purchases and think about where you decide to spend your money. The idea of be big, shop small is that instead of shopping online with the big boys (the big A word shall not be mentioned!) consider shopping with smaller independents, artists and businesses who will really benefit from you shopping with them. With that in mind, here’s the Last Night I Dreamt ultimate gift guide for Christmas 2020...

Consider sustainable gifting and buying a preloved item of vintage clothing for him this Christmas. We are big into vintage sweats and two of our favourite go to places to shop for vintage is:

Vintage Vixen  in Newark

Braderie 19-21 Pelham Street, Nottingham

For the Gardner and Plant Lover:

We are fortunate to have one of the best garden centres local to Southwell, Reg Taylor’s with an awesome selection of plants.

We also recommend The Watered Garden in Nottingham for a fabulous selection of indoor planting.

The perfect opportunity (when everything is open again to pop to Sneinton Market, enjoy a coffee at Blend.

Sticking with the hoodie theme and because i’ve ordered one for Bea and wear one myself, why not shop the iconic Hari & the Gang HELLO hoodie.

For the Tea Lover

Our recent giveaway showed how many of you are tea lovers out there! We are loving the Bird and Blend advent calender.

For the Chocolate Lover

Or are you more of a hot chocolate girl. I’ve recently ordered this giant hot chocolate bomb for my children’s Christmas Eve Box from Studio Chocolat, located in Cobden Chambers in Nottingham. Team it with some of their gorgeous edible bites or treat yourself to one of their calenders.

For the Biscuit Lover

We are obsessed with Peggy Porschen in London, not just because they inspire our Belgravia in the Bubble shop “windowscaping” shop window, but because their biscuits are an artform and the perfect sweet treat for a biscuit lover.

£9.95 Nutcracker Cookie.

For the Foodie Lover

Southwell’s Old Theatre Deli shop, The Larder, stocks a wonderful selection of local cheeses and luxury food items. Create your very own Festive Grave box online now for a loved one. I’m there.

Check out Rough Trade in Nottingham’s Christmas 2020 Gift Guide

For the Book Lover

So my favourite book of 2020 was American Dirt. But don’t give your money to Amazon this Christmas, shop from an independent book shop. One of my go to places when I’m staying in our little getaway down South is One Tree Books in Petersfield. A real gem.

A bit closer to home, Nottingham has an award winning independent bookshop of its very own.

14a Long Row, Nottingham NG1 2DH

You can order online with them whilst they’re closed too.

So there you have it, my Christmas 2020 guide to shopping small and shopping independent. Happy shopping and make sure you BE BIG, SHOP SMALL this Christmas.
