Last Night I Dreamt’s instore stylist takes a look at the forthcoming trends for Spring Summer 2020. From clothes to jewellery Lisa tells us what we can expect this season.

Spring has sprung or trying to at least and I’ve seen snowdrops & daffodils but other than that, not a lot of sun. It’s so wet that at this rate we will be dragging ourselves around with trench foot, less so skipping into spring. All the more reason to add some cheer by stepping into the new season in style.

First, let’s have a look at what the fashion trends were from the September 2019 catwalks. These are the trends which should now be starting to show themselves in the press, magazines & slowly trickling into the shops. What’s going to be big for spring/summer 2020?

Not all fashion trends shown on the catwalks make it onto the high street but elements of the clothes on show be it a particular colour, material or print are usually picked up by designers & filter down into what we see in the shops a few months later. Similarly, jewellery designers take their ideas from the catwalk and from top end fine jewellery brands & make their own interpretations.

For spring 2020 & for many future seasons to come “responsible fashion” has been an unavoidable subject for both clothing & jewellery. The emphasis on sustainability and the use of more natural materials. In my work as a stylist I’ve been talking allot about this at the clothes Swishing events we are running. Click here to find out more.

So I’ve talked about the trends we’ll be seeing filtering through from the catwalks to the high street but here’s what I’ve observed coming from the runways in terms of jewellery. All of these jewellery trends are workable and you can shop the look and refesh your look for Spring/Summer 2020 by simply introducing a new piece of jewellery from Last Night I Dreamt.

There is a definite move towards nature-inspired jewellery, think of the Alex Monroe bumblebee & dragonflies. This pretty nature trend is remaining & extending out to Oceanic & Nautical themes and shells (as in 2019) are big news again this season. As well as starfish & shells which are big this season take a look at these beauties:

We are all ready for some colour to detract from the grey sky’s & fortunately colourful jewellery (which Rebecca touched upon earlier this year) with multicoloured stones is another trend to update your look. I’m currently lusting over these:

If like myself you have embraced wearing hoop earrings after getting over the fact you don’t look like Madonna in the 80’s or Captain Jack Sparrow you’ll be pleased to know they are here to stay & they are big, by big I mean oversized. If you are ready to embrace the big take a look at these beauties by Rachel Jackson & Dinny Hall.

If you cannot embrace the big hoop, embrace the huggy they are everywhere, inexpensive and versatile and Last Night I Dreamt has lots to choose from in our Astrid & Miyu collection. Also, it takes into account the trend for mismatched single earrings.

Finally, pearls & chunky link chains are here to stay and Last Night I Dreamt covers both key trends. From the chunky chain choker by Phine to a contemporary twist on pearls with our Becca Jewellery collection and a more classic but a best selling look at Last Night I Dreamt, the Claudia Bradby ombre lariat, we have every jewellery box ticked. Wear alone or layer them up for an easy, effortless & contemporary look. What else will you wear with that oversized shirt or shirtdress. When it comes to necklines this season is all about showing off as much décolletage and shoulder as you can and it’s the perfect canvas for a chain reaction. This is the look I’ll be channelling and now is the time to update that jewellery box!!!
